Autumn Ivy

This outside area is always interesting at the Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor. In autumn, the ivy on the sides of the renovated barn and silo become deep crimson red. It's so striking, but lighting can be an issue. We didn't have a lot of time for photos--it was mid October, and we were losing daylight quickly. So, with help from my assistant, we set up lights and tried a casual pose against the dramatic background. It turned out so fantastic, I wish we were under this kind of creative pressure all the time! The bride was sweet and knew what she wanted at her wedding--it was refreshing to work with. The details she planned for the dinner were breathtaking, and the family was equally fantastic (loved the toasts!) It was a gutsy move to have an outdoor wedding in later October, but it worked out perfectly. While it was blustery, and it did drizzle a little earlier in the day, the rains held off for the ceremony, and photos afterward. After the ceremony and all the family photos, we focused on the couple. When I captured this photo of the bride, with the Mona Lisa grin, I knew I had The Shot.
