City lights

Newly wed couple takes a walk in downtown Milwaukee before the reception in Cudahy.

The November wedding was booked through George Street wedding photography, a service I occasionally worked with. This couple was spectacular. I couldn't have asked for a nicer couple. It was a cool night, but the bride rocked her cute dress, and was willing and game to do some outdoor night portraits before heading to the German-style supper club near their home.

I'm always excited to shoot a wedding in the Milwaukee area. Most of my work is in beautiful. scenic and rural Door County. So, getting some urban action is always a treat. I actually grew up just south of Milwaukee, in Kenosha, and had family in the big city. As a teen, I enjoyed visiting family and exploring the city with them. Today, I have friends and family in the area, and a wedding in the city means a chance to stay and visit. It also mean a chance to work with the urban landscape, incorporating city lights and architecture. Milwaukee's downtown is really quite beautiful, with river walks and a historic downtown area.

But maybe my favorite thing to do in the city is night portraiture, using the city lights to highlight the elements of architecture.
