After the waterfront wedding ceremony, and heavy appetizer buffet dinner reception, the newly married couple and their friends and family at the intimate wedding released Chinese lanterns lit by candles over the waters of Lake Michigan. Because of the risk of fire, many locations do not allow floating lanterns to be released, but it's safer over the large body of water. The couple held their ceremony at a large private home on the shore of Lake Michigan, and the intimate reception was held indoors at the home. The couple later held a sparkler exit. The day prior to the wedding, the entire group enjoyed a sail on the Edith Becker sailing schooner out of Sister Bay with Sail Door County.
