Old Time Rock and Roll

After the ceremony, the bride and groom got to cruise around in their friend's restored convertible. It was a warm, calm day--the perfect day to drive with the top down.

The couple chose to cruise to a couple scenic spots near Sturgeon Bay in Door County for photos of themselves and their wedding party.

It was a hot, hazy August day in northeast Wisconsin--one that felt like a throwback to days gone by. It was a perfect afternoon to drive around in a car like this.

We took photos in and around the car, and drove to a couple nearby parks. At one park, as we were completing some photos around the car, we heard this low, loud "CRACK!" sound. We spotted a large tree had fallen across the road, blocking out path.

After a few calls were made to the folks back at the reception site, Centerpointe in Sturgeon Bay--to let them know of the predicament--we marveled at the situation.

There had been no wind or heavy rains. Nothing pushed the tree--we were the only people around and we were about 100 yards away.

It was so strange that a tree--a BIG tree--would fall right then, and right across the road we needed to exit the park!

A crew with chainsaws arrived, and carved a path for us to leave.

It was one of the most unusual things I've seen happen at a wedding.

The time we waited allowed us to shoot a few more photos, and catch our breath from the fast pace we had been keeping.
