The Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin is a fantastic venue for a wedding and reception all in one location. There are several stunning spots for an outdoor ceremony, and a tented area for dinner. The gallery area is housed in a refurbished barn, and is the perfect spot for a band or DJ after dinner.
Unfortunately, the clouds did move in on this wedding, bringing rain showers and forcing the ceremony to resume inside. Thankfully, the barn was right there, and the perfect setting for the final "I Do" vows and kiss.
2016 may have been the rainiest wedding season I've ever seen. I began photographing weddings full time in 2001, so that's 15 years of dry weddings. Then 2016 rolled in, wet and wild.
You just have to roll with the punches. Every rainy wedding I was privileged to photograph ended beautifully, with good humor and lots of love. In the end, it's not about how perfect the day is, it's how memorable it is.
And, honestly, the clouds and atmosphere can provide some awesomely dramatic images. It rarely rains all day during a Door County summer. So odds are, you'll be OK. But it's still good to have a back up plan! It also doesn't hurt to have a sense of humor. And to look at the weather as an opportunity to capture a dramatic image like this one.
